Advice for bachelor students
General advice for 3rd year bachelor students:
These advices are given as general guidelines and should be considered within the perspective of your personal situation, progress, project and objectives.
Remember: the committee is sovereign in its decisions, comments and verdict. This implies that no one can guarantee the outcome of either the interim or the final presentation. You coach can only make some suggestions and hope for the best. Only if the committee is divided can the coach swing the vote one way or another.
Unless there is a blatant mistake/problem/omission, which you should discuss with your coach first, the decision of the committee is final.
Interim presentation:
- General requirements
The presentation should be clear and to the point. The material presented should help understand your ideas and project. - Concept and Design
The concept need not to be original (for example you could take some existing product or the outcome of a previous project). However the concept need to be clear, relevant and interesting. - Technology
Some elements of technology need to be presented. At least the principles underlying your product or service. This could take the form of a specification and requirements list. - User
You need a clear target user group. For example girls at 4th grade, middle income families or amateur swimmers. You should have already approached some of your potential users and established their profiles, needs and requirements. A user quesitonnaire could be useful for that. - Deliverables
Apart from the presentation that need to be structured and flowing you will need depending on your project: some models showing, in particular, the evolution of your ideas and the product. It could also be some architecture/flowchart if you are designing a system or a service. Some investigation of material is also necessary and finally some components/circuitry to show your understandin of the technology.
